The College of Diplomates (COD) of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry Mentoring Program is directed to new as well as existing members of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry who are eligible and wish to become board certified. The College of Diplomates has partnered with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) in the nationwide program.
With increasing pressures from insurance companies, hospital staffs, local and state regulatory bodies, colleagues, and the American Dental Association to have specialists board certification, everyone associated with pediatric dentistry—the American Academy, the American Board, and the College of Diplomates—is interested in increasing the numbers of board certified pediatric dentists.
Key leaders have been selected from the AAPD, the Board of Trustees, former Directors of the ABPD, directors of graduate training programs, and members from the COD in general practice.
These key leaders will be assisted by board certified individuals in each state, major cities, and in local communities with:
The goal is to significantly increase the number of board certified pediatric dentists in our academy.
Individuals interested in participating in this user-friendly effort are encouraged to contact the key leader assigned to their state/region. This may be done by phone a call, a letter, or by E-mail. The key leaders will inform prospective board candidates of the local pediatric dentistry networks that can provide help and assistance. In addition, the COD maintains a nationwide list of newly certified pediatric dentists who can advise those candidates about clinical section (case reviews or site visit). The overall effort is to assist and mentor candidates through the process by providing the necessary support and advice in all phases of the ABPD examination.
